Pretty Paisley Dress

Sarah from the studio has made this Pretty Paisley Dress.  Now that the summer is coming here in the UK we are all thinking about making lovely summer dresses.  Liberty Tana Lawn is great for making lightweight summer dresses. It feels lovely next to the skin and is delicate enough to be lovely and cool. I asked Sarah about the sewing project.  She said “I chose the pattern because I loved the style of the dress.  I fell in love with the simple shape and the v-neckline really suits my figure.  I’d been eyeing up the fabric in the studio …

Liberty Sewing Projects

Anna JP has been using the Liberty darks small pieces pack to make more Liberty Sewing Projects.  I absolutely love this gorgeous tea cosy.  Maybe it is an English tradition, but a tea cosy means that you can make a pot of tea (which always tastes better than dipping a tea bag into a mug) and drink several cups at the right temperature.     Anna JP says “This is made by sewing parallel strips of different widths, which are then joined together into an irregular pattern. I tried to balance out the prints so that my preferred ones took …

Liberty Scraps Cushion

Anna JP from the office has been making a beautiful Liberty Scraps Cushion.  It uses small pieces of Liberty fabric in a really simple design.  I love the fabrics she has put together.  The lovely grey piping detail around the edge of the cushion finishes it off beautifully too.   Anna JP talks about her sewing project. “I just love the collection of prints in our “darks” small pieces pack. On their own, the prints in these packs might seem a little uninspired, but curated together they really work.    I really wanted to see if I could make something …

Perfect English Paper Piecing

I love Perfect English Paper Piecing and have recently become quite obsessed with the technique.  I’ve designed a few projects for the Sewing Quarter.  Dawn from the studio decided to make her own version of the Snowflake Quilt that I designed for them.  She saw it as an excellent way to use up left over fabrics.  I never waste any Liberty fabric – it’s far too beautiful to throw any away.  EPP is such a versatile way of using it up. I asked Dawn about her Perfect English Paper Piecing.  “I’ve not done EPP before.  I’ve made some granny’s flowers …

Liberty Ultimate Shift Dress – Sew Over It Pattern

Laura has made a Liberty Ultimate Shift Dress using the Sew Over It pattern.  She has used a fabric that I really love –  Yoshie – which is available in a few really pretty colour ways.  The fabric is on sale at the moment too which is great news – makes it a little cheaper.  I’ve been really excited about these Sew Over It patterns coming in.  Lots of us are beavering away at making various clothes using them. Laura talks about the make here.  “Moving from season to season I find I completely forget how to wear my clothes. Does …

Cute Animal Bag Pattern – Cat or Mouse

Alice Caroline showcased this Cute Animal Bag Pattern on the Sewing Quarter last weekend.  It was so popular that I thought you may be interested in being able to buy the pattern for it.  Laura from the office has guest designed this gorgeous bag for me.  Everyone in the office and the studio has fallen in love with this bag. It’s a really clever design so that you can either make a cat or a mouse depending on which you, or your loved one, likes the best. I asked Laura a few questions about designing the bag.  She told me …

New Dress Patterns – Deer and Doe

I love it when I find New Dress Patterns that I like.  I’ve been using the same few dress pattern for a number of years and so have been looking for a new design.  I wore this dress to Liberty earlier on this year when Anna and I visited to have a ‘behind the scenes’  meeting to see some of the original paintings from the new AW2019 collection.  More about that in July when the new collection is launched.  This pattern from Deer and Doe is called Sureau (which means elderberry in French). I’m really pleased with the finished dress …

It’s finally here – Quilt SOS 2019.  For those of you who don’t know anything about the project, each year we team up with the wonderful charity SOS Children’s Villages to take beautiful hand made quilts to the children of a whole village.  2019 will be our fourth year of supporting SOS Children’s Villages.  We have previously taken quilts to the children in Hemeius (Romania), Vilnius (Lithuania), and Krasnik (Poland) – sending a total of 197 handcrafted, unique and cosy quilts that the children treasure for years to come.  This year, we will be taking quilts for all 60 children …

Liberty Fat Quarter Bundles – Whose do you like best?

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the lovely, creative and hardworking ladies of Alice Caroline have put together their very own fat quarter bundle.  They are going to keep a close eye as to which pack is the most popular. It’s a bit of fun but also brings out the super competitive side of some members of the team (I’m not mentioning any names here). You can see the selections below and their reasons for choosing their bundle. Sara said “Donna Leigh is one of my all time favourite fabrics.  I chose this bundle as I really love the pink and …

Gorgeous Liberty Dress

Laura from the office has made this Gorgeous Liberty Dress.  She’s used the Strawberry Thief fabric from the new 40th classics anniversary collection.  It’s the same fabric as Annie’s dress last week.  Both are really cute and work really well in this fabric. I asked Laura about the sewing project.  She said “I fell in love with the green, teal and coral colours of this new Strawberry Thief print and just knew it would make a lovely dress! But what kind of dress, I wondered… It had to be a something simple that didn’t take away from the detailed print …
