Beautiful Liberty Dressing Gown

I’m excited to be able to show you the third project from the Lewes Sewing Bees today.  This Beautiful Liberty Dressing Gown was made by Cristina Emslie and uses both of the Mitsi fabrics from my exclusive Mustard and Grey collection.

I asked Cristina about the inspiration behind the sewing project.

I absolutely love this Beautiful Liberty Dressing Gown.  Thank you so much for making it Cristina.  I can imagine you having a lazy Sunday morning adorned in this beautiful dressing gown.  What inspired the make?

“I am so pleased you like the dressing gown.  I was inspired to make it one beautiful sunny morning as I was looking at your exclusives.  I thought they looked so gentle and calm yet fresh. I had similar colours in our duvet cover and thought they would go very well together!”

Which pattern did you use for the dressing gown and why?

“I’ve never made a dressing gown before and I didn’t find it too difficult. I searched the web for a pattern and came across a brand called Gather. The dressing gown was kimono like and I thought it would look lovely with the colours I had chosen.”

Your dressing gown is beautifully made – did it take long to make?

“It took me a few mornings to make, so not very long really.  I did it follow the pattern exactly but changed the length.  I’ve also have made a few lavender bags with the remnants which live under my pillow helping me sleep well…”

The fabric:  The Beautiful Liberty Dressing Gown uses two of my exclusive “Mitsi’ fabrics.  Mitsi Mustard & Greyand ‘Mitsi Mustard’

The combining of the two ‘Mitsi’ fabrics works really well.  The mustard detailing on the arms and neckline look great against the grey.
