Miniature English Paper Piecing

Anna made her mum this cute pencil case using Miniature English Paper Piecing for Mothering Sunday.  Since making the Radiant Stars Quilt Anna is constantly looking for new things to EPP.  These really tiny but very cute 1/2″ hexagons take a while to turn into a ‘thing’ but its such a lovely calming experience ‘slow sewing’ projects like this. Here’s what Anna had to say about the make:  ” I wanted to make my mum something home-made for Mothering Sunday.  She loves art and drawing so I thought I’d make her something bright and cheery to put her pens and …

Liberty Vintage Pinafore

Laura has made this gorgeous Liberty Vintage Pinafore using one of the recently launched quilting cottons.  She’s used Lawn A from the new Winterbourne collection.  It’s got a lovely vintage feel and it really showcases the use of a quilting cotton in a garment.    Here’s what Laura had to say about the project.”I have long thought that Liberty’s quilting cotton would also be suited to garment making (though the name of the fabric itself implies just the one end-use).  Specifically, garments that require a little more warmth or garments that benefit from having more structure, like this pinafore. The …

Liberty Nightdress

Dawn from the studio has made this gorgeous Liberty Nightdress in one of my exclusive Liberty white on white fabrics.  The finished nightdress is so delicate and has some lovely lace detail which compliments the style perfectly. I asked Dawn about making the nightdress.  “I made the version with short sleeves and on the whole it was easy but I did find the sleeves tricky to insert which meant readjusting to help with the fit.  I altered the pattern slightly – shortening by miles and used French seams for the whole sewing project.  I also added some cotton lace around …

Beautiful Bench Cushions – Liberty Quilting Cotton

Sarah from the studio has made these Beautiful Bench Cushions for her pew using some of the festive quilting cottons. I asked Sarah about the project.  “The pew comes from a chapel I attended as a child and is therefore very special to me in my home.  I’ve been wanting something to embellish it and make it more inviting as a place to sit.  I especially liked the poinsettia quilting cotton fabric when it arrived in the studio so it was a natural choice.” “I saw a picture of a buttoned cushion in a magazine which gave me the idea …
