Quilted Liberty Jacket

Gill Nicholls from the Lewes Sewing Bees has made this stunning Quilted Liberty Jacket.  She’s used Anna’s Garden Teal from my exclusive ‘Butterfly Garden’ collection and has lined it with Plain Light Pink Tana Lawn.  I thoroughly enjoyed modelling this beautiful jacket and quite fancy making one myself!  I asked Gill about the project.     Why did you choose the fabric? “I chose Anna’s garden fabric because it was a stunning large print with gorgeous colours. A quilted jacket seemed a good choice although the fabric would look amazing as many different garments.”     Which pattern did you …

Liberty Wiltshire Blouse

Cristina Emslie from the Lewes Sewing Bees has made this beautiful Liberty Wiltshire Blouse using one of our Alice Caroline Exclusive colourways.  It’s called Wiltshire Blueberry and looks really pretty in this top.  I asked Cristine about the make.     Why did you choose the fabric? “When I first saw the exclusives, the one that caught my attention was the one Gill used for her jacket (Anna’s Garden Teal – project coming up next week) and I wanted to make a pair of pjs with it. I was a bit slow at showing my preference and when we were …

Beautiful Liberty Table Runner

I’m showcasing another one of the Lewes sewing Bees projects this week – this beautiful Liberty Table Runner has been made by Anne Commin (you can see her on @anagrananne on Instagram).  She’s used a selection of fabrics from the ‘Butterfly Garden’ exclusive collection.   I absolutely love the use of Anna’s Garden Teal – a hint in the binding and leaves on the table runner front, then beautifully backed in it too.  The softer colours of Felicite, Danjo, Mini Edenham, Strawberry Thief and two Wiltshire colour ways from the collection are perfect for the apples.      Anne tells …

Liberty Devon Petals Dress

Laura has been super busy again and has made this gorgeous Liberty Devon Petals Dress.  The fabric is from the new Liberty Botanicals collection and she’s used both colour ways to accentuate the lovely ruffles and ties on the dress. Laura tells us about the sewing project here: “Liberty’s new Botanicals collection is full of luscious floral prints inspired by the British countryside.  The fabric I have used is called Devon Petals and you will find both the navy version C and the cream version A on the Alice Caroline website.  I have used both colour ways in this prairie-style …

Liberty Dress

Lucy from the studio has made this stunning dress using one of the new fabrics from the AW20 collection – Private View.  This is one of my favourite fabrics from this collection – I love the William Morris connection (it was inspired by the Morris Honeysuckle design) and this new interpretation has primulas and fritillaries in soft watercolours.   I asked Lucy about the sewing project. I love the fabric you have chosen – Elm House A – what drew you to the design? “When I first flipped through the sample book for the Private View AW20 collection of Liberty …

Liberty Garden Chair Covers

Pauline from the studio has made these gorgeous Liberty Garden Chair covers using a Tresco stretch denim.  This fabric is hard wearing and yet a little stretchy which is perfect for this project.  The finished result is a comfortable seat which will last a long time.  I asked Pauline about the project. “Ever since I started working at Alice Caroline, Tresco A has been a favourite of mine.  It leaps off the shelves with its bright yellows, greens, reds, purples, pinks and blues.  The colours should not go together but they blend beautifully and stand out against the green of …

Liberty Lockwood Dress

Laura has made this stunning Liberty Lockwood Dress using one of the fabrics from the new Liberty AW20 collection – Lockwood A.  The pattern she has chosen is a perfect marriage with the fabric and the end result, beautiful.     Here is what Laura had to say about the beautiful dress.  “Liberty’s new AW20 collection ‘Private View’ is one of my favourite seasonal collections yet, there are so many stunning prints to choose from! What I especially love about the collection is the abundance of bright and happy prints. Autumn and winter doesn’t have to be all muted and …

Stylish Liberty Tie

Laura from the office has made this lovely tie for her dad.  It’s so tricky to find nice homemade gift ideas for the men in our lives and this is the perfect ‘easy sew’.  I asked Laura about the project. “I wanted to make a present for my amazing Dad but am ashamed to say I usually struggle to sew for men.  I just don’t know what small items they want or use that I could also conceivably sew! Women are easy, we use a whole host of accessories for hair, bags and clothing that one can make and give …

Mitsi Mustard Liberty Shirt

Anna JP from the office has made this lovely Mitsi Mustard Liberty shirt for her son.  It uses one of our exclusive fabrics from 2019 in one of the most popular Liberty prints.  The Mitsi mustard design is inspired by Japanese cherry blossom.  As Anna says, it looks rather like the hawthorn ‘may’ flower that we see here in the spring hedgerows. Here’s what Anna had to say about the project.  “Following the success of Isaac’s “Walter+Gilbert” Christmas prezzie shirt, I was interested to see if I would enjoy the sewing process more if I had less of a pattern-matching challenge. …
