Anna’s made these super cute Liberty Wide Leg Trousers using Isadora from the new AW19 collection. I am planning to make some of these myself as I love them so much. They are perfect for the warmer summer months and if you wanted to extend the season, you can interline them to give them additional thickness and body.
Liberty Wide Leg Trousers – the fabric:
Isadora is a soft watercolour of the peacock feather, which is an integral part of Libert’s design heritage. It’s also a strong emblem of the ‘Aesthetic Movement’ which is the inspiration for the AW19 collection. The collection celebrates the life of Arthur Lasenby Liberty and his spirit as a traveler, tastemaker and merchant. Isadora’s fronds interweave to create a dreamlike design with movement across a multi directional print. I asked Anna why she chose the fabric. “I absolutely love teal and always feel drawn to it. When I saw this print in the new AW19 collection I instantly decided to make some more wide leg trousers in it. I’m really pleased with the finished trousers.”
The pattern has lovely pleats at the front and the wait band is high making them flattering.
It has an invisible zip. Anna used a invisible zip foot on her sewing machine. They are expensive but worth the investment.
The feather effect of Anna’s necklace goes really well with the Isadora pattern of the fabric.
Liberty Wide Leg Trousers – the pattern:
The pattern for these trousers is Simplicity 1069 which can also be shorts or a maxi or midi skirt. I asked Anna why she chose this pattern. “I loved the first pair of trousers I made using this pattern and so I decided to make some more. I added a pocket into the trousers as I felt the first pair missed having one. These are such lovely floaty trousers for the summer. I can’t wait to wear them on my holidays.”
