Pretty Paisley Dress

Sarah from the studio has made this Pretty Paisley Dress.  Now that the summer is coming here in the UK we are all thinking about making lovely summer dresses.  Liberty Tana Lawn is great for making lightweight summer dresses. It feels lovely next to the skin and is delicate enough to be lovely and cool.

I asked Sarah about the sewing project.  She said “I chose the pattern because I loved the style of the dress.  I fell in love with the simple shape and the v-neckline really suits my figure.  I’d been eyeing up the fabric in the studio for a while.  I really like the colour and paisley print.  I thought it would be a light and pretty dress for the summer without it being floral.  Anna was very sweet and agreed to model the dress for me today.  It fits her so well too.”

The pattern is from Sew Over It and is the 1940’s Wrap Dress.  This is a vintage inspired wrap dress with a modern feel which is great for both day and evening wear.  It has a wrap front bodice with a lovely front collar and pretty shoulder pleats.  The bodice gathers into the uniquely shaped pointed wasteband, and the dress closes with hidden buttons or press studs.

It’s made using a lovely paisley called ‘Abbey Road C‘.  There are other colours of this fabric too as well as several other choices of paisley designs.

About making the Pretty Paisley Dress Sarah said “The pattern was really easy to use, straightforward to follow and very accurate.  Even the trickier aspects of the pattern such as the collar and pleats came together beautifully.  The instructions were clear and simple to follow.  I did make some minor alterations to make sure it fitted well – we are all different shapes after all.  The finished dress looks really pretty and now that the sun is shining, the opportunity to wear summer dresses is just around the corner.”

We have a really good range of Sew Over It patterns to create your wonderful summer wardrobe.
