Alice and Emma take you on a ‘Tour of Liberty’ through memories, experiences, designing fabric collections and putting colours together to gain an intimate detail of how the design process takes place. Join Alice and Emma for an audience within their inner design sanctums. Emma shows us some of her designs from her days with Liberty as well as her current work, including paintings and drawings. Alice has long been a fan of Emma so this is a dream come true opportunity and we hope you will enjoy it too.
Emma Mawston: Emma worked for Liberty for 24 years in a variety of design jobs, but as Head of Fabric Design for fashion and interiors for 18 of those. Emma’s hand is behind many of the Liberty’s signature most well known and well loved prints. She has worked on 30 fashion fabric collections and oversaw the curation of Classic collections during this time too. Her first full collection was SS2000 and last was AW2015. Emma was the Head Designer of Liberty Fabrics when one of Alice’s favourite ever collections was designed, Flower Show SS13. Emma will give us a fascinating insight into the fabric design process and how Liberty collections are born and developed.
