Over The Rainbow Full Quilt Kit

The Over the Rainbow Quilt is based on the Dresden Plate quilt block.  The history of this block goes back as far as the 1800’s when examples of the ‘Dresden Plate Fan’ can been seen in quilts.  It didn’t become really popular however until the 1920’s when four fans were pieced together to make the circle Dresden Plate quilt block we know and love today.  This beautiful quilt uses 144 different Liberty Tana Lawn prints to make the petals of the Dresden Plates all in gorgeous rainbows.  The technique used to make this quilt is English Paper Piecing (EPP) which hand sews the Dresden Plate petals together.  These are then hand or machine appliqued onto the background fabric. We love EPP at Alice Caroline – there is so much enjoyment to be found in hand sewing beautiful fabrics together.

Fabric:  144 different Liberty Tana Lawn® fabrics are used to make the petals of the Dresden Plates.  These Liberty fabrics are repeated for the block borders and corner stones.  High quality off-white background and sashing fabric for the block background and quilt sashing is also included.  Liberty Tana Lawn® fabric is also included for the quilt binding.

You will need:  Scissors, pins, sewing machine, hand sewing needle and thread, water soluble glue-pen (optional), quilt backing and wadding.
