PATTERN: Cabinet of Curiosities Quilt Pattern

£10.00

As featured in issue 55 of Today’s Quilter magazine.

This Cabinet of Curiosities quilt is a great way to showcase your favourite Liberty Prints. Suitable for an adventurous beginner sewer, construction of this quilt uses a combination of both straight and curved stitching using the sewing machine. You will learn how to make half square triangles (HSTs) which are simple to sew but visually complicated once they are put together. The pretty flowers and insects use the raw edge appliqué technique which, once learnt, will open up a whole new world of sewing possibilities!

As pictured, this quilt looks great with a bright rainbow background, with 14 different fabric prints running through the colour spectrum from reds and pinks to blues and purples. The feature flowers, insects and frames are in the same colours, tying the quilt together. You could certainly have fun and experiment with other colours if you wish, a darker rainbow would make for a bolder quilt while choosing light and dark shades of a single colour across the whole quilt will fit a tighter decor style.

This pattern is designed for Liberty Tana Lawn to be used as the coloured fabric on the front and binding. Liberty Quilting Cotton or any other quilting cotton works well as the plain background and backing- the quilt pictured uses an antique white coloured quilting cotton for this.
