Liberty Travels is a capsule collection of print postcards – inspired by different locations around the world, each translated through a quintessentially Liberty lens. The collection reflects the original aspirations of our founder Arthur Lasenby Liberty, to create a voyage of discovery through his store. Unusually for their time, both Arthur and his wife Emma were pioneers of overseas travel. During their trips they kept extensive photographic and highly descriptive journals, recording the inspiring and unusual places they visited. Three of these journals – ‘Spring Time in the Basque Mountains’, ‘A Day In Tangiers’ and ‘A Pictorial Record of Japan’, all published in limited runs – provided an exceptional source of inspiration for our designers. Just like Arthur’s captivating descriptions and Emma’s striking photography, the new collection offers a love letter to the magic of travel – and a tantalising glimpse into other worlds. Created in the Liberty Fabrics studio, the Liberty Travels collection offers a whistle-stop tour through our designer’s favourite destinations, from the brownstones of Manhattan to the vibrantly tiled streets of Barcelona and the wild meadows of Scotland. Inspired by Arthur’s spirit of discovery, we invite you to join us on a worldwide adventure with Liberty Travels.
