Strawberry Thief Liberty Shawl

One of the lovely Lewes Sewing Bees has made this gorgeous Strawberry Thief Liberty Shawl.  The outer fabric is a lovely wool fabric and Anne has cleverly lined it with Strawberry Thief  J which makes the fabric really shine, both the wool outer and Liberty lining.  The lovely Louise from the studio is modelling the Shawl beautifully.  Anne Commin, the clever maker of this beautiful shawl, tells us about the project below.

“Three of the Lewes Sewing Bees have made these shawls so far and we all like their relaxed but subtly chic character. The pattern is The Skye Wrap which is designed by Sarah Peel from Luna Lapin.  She describes it as “a simple machine sewn project suitable for beginners”.”

Anne has chosen some beautiful buttons which match perfectly and add interesting detail.

Anne says “I love the bit in the instructions which says “If you are a child, ask an adult if you are unsure”, so, even though I’m properly grown up, I nipped across the field to Gill and got her to cut my fabric super accurately.  I decided to go for a slightly longer wrap and Gill cut it at 76cm which is perfect for me.  The fun of this project lies in the choice of fabrics and buttons.  Make sure you love all three elements, then run up your wrap super fast, pop it on and enjoy all the admiring looks.”

This looks like a super easy project to sew and one which gets fast rewards.  I hope this gives you some sewing inspiration.  Thank you Anne for sending us your lovely Strawberry Thief Liberty Shawl to admire!
