One of our favourite customers Tracy Aplin has made this gorgeous Tresco Evening Liberty Dress. It’s a day time dress but uses our exclusive Liberty Tresco Evening Liberty fabric. Anna is modelling Tracy’s dress here but there’s a lovely picture of Tracy later on. Tracy tells us about her make below.
Why did you choose our new Tresco Evening to make your dress? “The new Tresco fabrics are all lovely. Usually go for brights but the navy background looks different. I would still wear a bright cardigan and shoes with it as it still has so many colours in it.”
Which pattern did you use? “I’d been following #memademay on Instagram and you get to see all sorts of different patternsmade up. I liked the look of this dress and was a classic shape. It’s by Deer and Doe and is called MySotis.”
Was it an easy make? Did you make any alterations to the pattern? “The pattern comes with a few different variations, a gathered sleeve and an extra gathered hem. The neck line is very simple with a tiny collar. Three buttons and pockets! It’s was very easy to make up, great for beginners. Making it in the Liberty Lawn was a dream too. The only thing I changed was the length, I just added another 1” but otherwise a lovely pattern.”
I saw you were on a sewing retreat whilst making it. Was it an amazing weekend away? “After three attempts to go away with other sewing friends we went last weekend. I’d already cut the dress out and fused the collar and facings. So was very easy to whip up in a day. It was so lovely to be with friends face to face than a zoom meet-up. Makes you realise how much we have missed our friends. But sewing is what’s kept me going.”
Are you pleased with the end result? “Can’t wait to be ‘out out’ now to be wearing this new dress. Really pleased with it, so much so, I have cut out another in a bright Betsy already!”
Here’s Tracy modelling her beautiful dress. I hope that she enjoys wearing it in these hot spring/summer days.
