New Liberty Collection – The Artist

I’m delighted to let you know about the new Liberty collection.  The brand new Spring / Summer 2016 collection is called ‘The Artist’ and centres around the creative flare and inspiration from artists across the world.

The collection explores the imaginative mind and skill of the artist.  It features florals, abstracts and textures which are curated into design stories such as the Painter’s Meadow and the Modern Impressionist.

The colour palette of the collection is heavily influenced by the artistic world.  Monet embodies the romantic Impressionist movement with calming neutrals and soft chalky pastels and shades of Hockney are seen in soft duck egg and dusty rose.  Many other artists such as Picasso and Rousseau are some of the shaping influences within this new collection.

I absolutely love a new Liberty collection!  With a new head of design at the helm of Liberty Art Fabrics, the seasonal collections are more fashion and contemporary focussed. I have used this new collection to curate some fat quarter selection packs specially designed for you as sewers and quilters to use in a wide variety of ways.  The new collection theme is dear to my heart as I love exploring art books and find that many of my designs are also influenced by art and works from museums.  I can’t wait to launch the new collection in January and am really looking forward to seeing lots of your sewing projects made from the new fabrics.

Some of the fabrics included within the collection are:

Painter’s Meadow – which is inspired by a painter’s imaginings of an English meadow.

April Showers – a colourful meadow of simple yet striking paper cut flowers in the style of Matisse.

Fornasetti Forest – inspired by tropical forest foliage from Henry Rousseau’s jungle landscapes and the study of foliage at Kew Gardens’ Palm House.

Summer Posy – A fresh, summery take on a traditional Liberty floral showing lush, green grasses with an abundant array of bright blooms.

The collection is now available for pre-order and is for general sale on the 1st January.   You can view the new collection here.
