I have made a really Lovely Liberty Top for you to see today:
It’s made using a really simple pattern and only took me an afternoon to make. That’s great news if you are stuck for something to wear on a night out as I was last week!
This top works really well for a casual look in the daytime for the spring or could be dressed up with some sparkly jewellery for an evening out. This makes it really versatile which is fantastic for the wardrobe. The fabric I’ve chosen is from the brand new Spring / Summer 2016 collection which was launched on January 1st – there are some really pretty florals in the collection and this one is called Painter’s Meadow (the small version). The variety of colours in this fabric is so lovely that it would go with lots of different things to mix and match. Get sewing now to transform your wardrobe for the spring – I’ve decided to make this top in lots of the new Liberty of London collection to give me something new and fresh to wear every day!
I chose a vintage button from my collection for the detail at the back but any button would work just as well. The pattern has a simple finish at the back with bias binding made from the fabric (or you could use a contrasting fabric if you wanted a different look to the edge) and a button hole.
Lovely Liberty Top
The pattern – I’ve used a New Look pattern number 6895 variation A – it’s very easy to follow and make – simple sewing lines and bias binding (I love the way it stretches to allow for my imperfections in sewing!) to edge.
The fabric – Liberty Tana Lawn Small Painter’s Meadow B – is a beautiful print from the new collection which centres around ‘The Artist’. This fabric is inspired by a painter’s imaginings of an English meadow – thick paint and a free hand combine to create an idyllic countryside full of rich coloured flowers and expressive textures. I absolutely love this print – it’s available in a larger size too which is equally as beautiful.
