A New Liberty Summer Shift Dress

This was a fun dress to make, I’m really pleased with how it turned out. It’s Newlook (Simplicity) pattern 6022 style A. With a pleated neckline and small pleats at the top of the sleeves, it has an elasticated gather to cinch in the back and also as a detail on the sleeves, the perfect summer shift dress!

Liberty Fabric: Angelica Garla

Sewing tip: when sewing the binding to the neckline sew bias onto the wrong side (inside) of the dress first then fold over and edgestitch binding on the right side (outside) of dress. This makes it much easier to get a neater finish than doing it the other way round as the pattern instruction describes (I learnt this from a Japanese sewing pattern).
