Liberty Ultimate Shift Dress – Sew Over It Pattern

Laura has made a Liberty Ultimate Shift Dress using the Sew Over It pattern.  She has used a fabric that I really love –  Yoshie – which is available in a few really pretty colour ways.  The fabric is on sale at the moment too which is great news – makes it a little cheaper.  I’ve been really excited about these Sew Over It patterns coming in.  Lots of us are beavering away at making various clothes using them. Laura talks about the make here.  “Moving from season to season I find I completely forget how to wear my clothes. Does …

New Dress Patterns – Deer and Doe

I love it when I find New Dress Patterns that I like.  I’ve been using the same few dress pattern for a number of years and so have been looking for a new design.  I wore this dress to Liberty earlier on this year when Anna and I visited to have a ‘behind the scenes’  meeting to see some of the original paintings from the new AW2019 collection.  More about that in July when the new collection is launched.  This pattern from Deer and Doe is called Sureau (which means elderberry in French). I’m really pleased with the finished dress …

Liberty Fat Quarter Bundles – Whose do you like best?

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the lovely, creative and hardworking ladies of Alice Caroline have put together their very own fat quarter bundle.  They are going to keep a close eye as to which pack is the most popular. It’s a bit of fun but also brings out the super competitive side of some members of the team (I’m not mentioning any names here). You can see the selections below and their reasons for choosing their bundle. Sara said “Donna Leigh is one of my all time favourite fabrics.  I chose this bundle as I really love the pink and …

Gorgeous Liberty Dress

Laura from the office has made this Gorgeous Liberty Dress.  She’s used the Strawberry Thief fabric from the new 40th classics anniversary collection.  It’s the same fabric as Annie’s dress last week.  Both are really cute and work really well in this fabric. I asked Laura about the sewing project.  She said “I fell in love with the green, teal and coral colours of this new Strawberry Thief print and just knew it would make a lovely dress! But what kind of dress, I wondered… It had to be a something simple that didn’t take away from the detailed print …

Beautiful Strawberry Thief Dress

Sarah from the studio has made this beautiful Strawberry Thief Dress from one of the new 40th Classics fabrics.  She has made it for her daughter Annie who is a huge fan of the Strawberry Thief design.  Annie has excellent taste.   The fabric chosen is Strawberry Thief A from the new celebratory classics collection.  The pattern is New Look 6444 using view D.  It’s the same pattern as Gwen’s jumpsuit from last week.  The top half of the design is the same on both views with a different bottom half.  It creates a very different look for two sisters using the …

A Liberty Jumpsuit for Gwen

Sarah from the studio has made this gorgeous Liberty Jumpsuit for her daughter Gwen.  Gwen chose the pattern and fabric – both are great choices. Gwen said “I chose the fabric because I loved the colour and pale blue is really in this season.    This is a really pretty way of wearing pale blue.  I also love the off the shoulder frill of the pattern design.  Jumpsuits are fashionable too at the moment.” The fabric chosen is Capel C and the pattern is New Look 6444 using view A.  Sarah said “The pattern was really simple and easy to …

Strawberry Thief Knot Bag

The lovely Dawn from the studio has made this Strawberry Thief Knot Bag to match her gorgeous UGG boots.  She has used the colourway  Strawberry Thief L.   I asked Dawn about the sewing project.  “I really liked the look of Alice’s knot bag pattern and it was easy to decide on the fabric.  Strawberry Thief L matches my Ugg boots and a little scarf I made a few months ago! I lined the bag in plain Tana Lawn in black which was a practical choice. I just made a couple of tweaks to the pattern by adding a little …

Liberty Wide Leg Trousers

Anna has made these Liberty Wide Leg Trousers using the new fabric ‘Painted Journey‘.  I absolutely love wide leg trousers and these ones certainly stand out.  They are slightly crazy but we all love them in the studio.   Everyone has had a go at trying them on. Anna went away over the Christmas break with the fabric to make these.  When it came to the final fitting of the trousers, Christmas eating meant that she couldn’t quite do the zip up when trying on.  She’s been obsessively running ever since!  On photography day, she just about managed to squeeze into …

Gorgeous Liberty Quilt As You Go Quilt

Anna JP has made this Gorgeous Liberty Quilt using a combination of the two latest Liberty fabric collections.  It has beautiful fabrics from both the Classics 40th anniversary collection and the SS19 seasonal collection. The Quilt as you go technique is really simple.  It’s a great way of getting a quilt result in quilting.  The method means that you have a backing piece of fabric (right side down), place your wadding on top of that and then quilt your panels onto the front.  In this case it is strips of whole width of fabric.    Here are some of Anna’s …
