The Perfect Liberty Gift

I’ve designed the Perfect Liberty Gift.  For those who adore Liberty fabric and also like to keep things neat and tidy, my wash bag and accessories range would make a great gift.  The wash bags and purses are handy and practical but are also beautiful and stylish. The Wiltshire red range has such a Christmas feel about it.  The wash bags and purses would make a great gift for someone who loves to travel.  I love to keep my cables and plugs in my medium purse.  It came in handy when I was in Poland to deliver the Quilt SOS …

Liberty Christmas Wrapping

Liberty Christmas Wrapping

Today’s Christmas idea is Liberty Christmas Wrapping.  I love an eco-friendly idea – especially when it involves Japanese culture and fabric.  Furoshiki is a type of Japanese wrapping cloth that was originally used to carry clothes, gifts and food.  The word means Japanese bath spread and comes from the traditional practice of wrapping a bundle of clothes at the public baths. This Liberty Christmas Wrapping looks so pretty.  It’s a lovely addition to a present for someone who loves to sew. Even a snippet of Liberty attached to a present seems a lovely decadent treat. This present has been wrapped …

Claire from the studio has made this really sweet Liberty Christmas fairy.  She saw a similar one on Pinterest and really wanted to make one using the Wiltshire Christmas fabric.  Her’s will decorate the top of her tree. SOS Quilts Arrive in Poland

SOS Quilts Arrive in Poland

Anna and I have just returned from Poland and are delighted to be able to share our story with you.  All 66 wonderful quilts have now been delivered to a child in the Children’s SOS Village of Krasnik, south of Warsaw in Poland.   Tuesday 20th November 2018 We started out from the Alice Caroline studio with 5 huge (and really heavy) bags of quilts which had been vacuum packed in order to fit them into the bag sizes we had.  Getting the bags to the check in desk was quite a task.  Bristol airport now charges for trolleys and …

Liberty Radiant Stars Quilt – BOM

Liberty Radiant Stars Quilt

Liberty Radiant Stars Quilt.  I am so excited to launch our Quilt BOM project for 2019. This stunning Liberty Tana Lawn Quilt is made of 30 quilt blocks which are all hand pieced using the technique English Paper Piecing (EPP).  EPP is a well-loved technique and is used around the globe.  It is a method of creating beautiful patchwork by joining different shapes of fabric together, with the paper templates helping to align each fabric piece perfectly. You do not need a sewing machine for EPP as the pieces are hand-sewn. This is not a difficult technique to grasp, and …

Create for Christmas

Create for Christmas

It’s always good to Create for Christmas.  Anna JP from the office has made these gorgeous candle holders.  I’ve asked her to tell you all about them. It’s always nice to have pretty candles and lit-up items over the winter time, when it can seem like you spend your whole life in the dark and needing to put the lights on. So when Anna asked us to make some Christmas-themed craft projects I immediately thought of something based around candles. These glass jars are really easy to make, and, as I had hoped, the candle-light shines through the Liberty fabric …

100 Blocks 100 Days Liberty Quilt

One of my customers, Lisa Perry, has made this gorgeous Liberty Quilt.  It was inspired by the Gnome Angel sew along and uses Tula Pink designs from her book ‘100 Modern Quilt Blocks’.  I love the gorgeous mix of Liberty fabrics in this quilt.  It’s so vibrant and fun. Lisa came in to the studio a few weeks ago with this beautiful Liberty Quilt.  Everyone gathered round (as is traditional here) to see what Lisa had brought in.  I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures and sharing her quilt story with you.  I asked her a few questions about the …

A Beautiful Quilt – using Alice Caroline Exclusives

One of my customers Tracy Aplin has made this Beautiful Quilt for the Quilt SOS project.  She wanted to make a quilt using my exclusives.  Yes I thought! Here it is.  Gosh I really love the use of plain colours alongside the delicate tones of the exclusives. Tracy hand pieced the quilt top using a pattern by Judy Newman called Emma Mary. It comes in templates making it easy to cut with a rotary cuter and hand sew.  Here’s Tracy’s work in progress. She really enjoyed making it but also says that she wants to make it again in a …
