Butterflies & Buds Liberty Quilt

Veronica Greenslade from the Lewes Sewing Bees has made this stunning Butterflies & Buds Liberty Quilt using the new Alice Caroline Exclusive ‘Butterfly Garden Collection’.   This gorgeous quilt showcases the ‘Butterfly Garden’ (reminiscent of an English Garden) perfectly with appliquéd butterflies coming out of a beautiful vase of flowers.     I asked Veronica about the quilt:   We love your ‘Bud and Butterflies Quilt’ – how did you come up with the design? “Once I knew these Exclusives were called the Butterfly Garden Collection and a butterfly was going to feature on the Betsy print I knew butterflies and …

Liberty Snowflakes Quilt

I wanted to showcase The Liberty Snowflakes Quilt that we have shown on Hochanda TV as it’s so beautiful. Kathy has made this version of the quilt after I designed it a couple of years ago.  She’s been desperate to start another EPP (English Paper Piecing) project since her first one last year and this was the perfect opportunity.  It’s called the Liberty Snowflake Quilt and, as in the case of a Snowflake, each block is different. There are 48 different Liberty fabrics in the quilt, each giving another beautiful pattern and colour. I asked Kathy about her time making …

Beautiful Quilt SOS Quilt

We’ve received the first beautiful Quilt SOS Quilt into the studio for our 2020 project.  It’s a completely stunning quilt which has so much detail within it.  It’s a quilt that is full of fun and interest and therefore perfect for a child.  It has been made by Kathryn Ross and was inspired by her daughters bedroom floor and by Arbury Hall.  The Quilt SOS project is now in its 5th year – later on this year we are taking the quilts to London to be given to the children and their mothers currently seeking refuge in the safe houses …

Paisley and Plains Liberty Quilt

Anna JP from the office has made this gorgeous Paisley and Plains Liberty Quilt.  It uses a quilt-as-you-go method of quilting which is fun and really easy.  If you are new to quilting or have never tried it before, then this is a great way to start. Here’s what Anna had to say about making the quilt. The fabrics:  “I used Liberty width of fabric x 4” for all the strips, so the finished quilt is width of fabric wide x about 200cm long. It took 25 strips in total although the plain colours I divided into narrower strips to …

Quilt SOS 2020 – It’s Finally Here!

I’m really excited to be able to let you know that we have finally chosen a great charity with which to work for our Quilt SOS 2020 project. Now in its fifth year, the Quilt SOS project will aim to donate almost 70 beautiful, and lovingly made quilts to women and children who need them most.  We are excited to be able to launch the project at a difficult time for everyone globally, and hope that sewing for a charitable cause can lift the spirits of people isolated at home.  This year the project sees a change in the charity …

Radiant Stars Liberty Quilt

It’s finally finished – Anna has finished making the Radiant Stars Liberty Quilt this week.  After 15 months of very happy, slow sewing the quilt can be shown in all of its glory. I asked Anna a bit about making this gorgeous quilt.  Here’s what she had to say.  “I’ve throughly enjoyed making this quilt.  Each month we spent a very happy hour choosing the fabrics from new collections, our Alice Caroline Exclusives and Liberty Classics.  Then I would eagerly take the fabric home and get stitching. Each block would take around 2 hours to sew together but I would …

Liberty Quilt – Jewel Palace BOM Progress

Lara from the studio is making the Liberty Quilt Jewel Palace Quilt BOM as a little bit of sewing fun.  Each month, she’s sewing the blocks together so that we can show you the beautiful quilt as it unfolds. It’s a month by month English Paper Piecing project that will grow into a beautiful Liberty quilt. I asked Lara if she was enjoying the sew along.  This is what she had to say. “I’m thoroughly enjoying the project and am finding it really therapeutic.  Once my children have gone to bed, out comes my sewing box.  I sit and sew …

Quilt SOS Visit to The SOS Children’s Village of Islice

We’ve recently arrived back from Latvia to deliver the Quilt SOS quilts to the children of the SOS Children’s Village in Islice.  Below is our story of the trip.   We took 65 beautiful quilts, made by our lovely customers, and personally delivered them to the children. Each year we choose a village run by the international charity SOS Children’s Villages.  We then coordinate the making of enough quilts so that every child in the village receives a beautiful hand-made gift of a quilt. We are always overwhelmed by the loving generosity of our customers,  a few made multiple quilts …

Charity Liberty Quilts Made by The Dulwich Quilters

When I took a phone call from Jenny Strong earlier on this year asking if her quilting group ‘The Dulwich Quilters’ could make Charity Liberty Quilts for the Alice Caroline Quilt SOS project, I was delighted.  Jenny mentioned that one of the quilters in her group had sadly passed away last year and left a large Liberty fabric stash for them to use for charitable causes.  Sheila Conway’s fabric stash has been put to a fantastic use in these 7 stunning quilts which will be personally hand delivered to the children in Latvia later on this year. A couple of …
