Gorgeous Liberty Dress

Laura from the office has made this Gorgeous Liberty Dress.  She’s used the Strawberry Thief fabric from the new 40th classics anniversary collection.  It’s the same fabric as Annie’s dress last week.  Both are really cute and work really well in this fabric. I asked Laura about the sewing project.  She said “I fell in love with the green, teal and coral colours of this new Strawberry Thief print and just knew it would make a lovely dress! But what kind of dress, I wondered… It had to be a something simple that didn’t take away from the detailed print …

Liberty Wide Leg Trousers

Anna has made these Liberty Wide Leg Trousers using the new fabric ‘Painted Journey‘.  I absolutely love wide leg trousers and these ones certainly stand out.  They are slightly crazy but we all love them in the studio.   Everyone has had a go at trying them on. Anna went away over the Christmas break with the fabric to make these.  When it came to the final fitting of the trousers, Christmas eating meant that she couldn’t quite do the zip up when trying on.  She’s been obsessively running ever since!  On photography day, she just about managed to squeeze into …

Liberty Summer Top

Here’s a lovely Liberty Summer Top made using Archive Lilac.  Anna JP from the office has been sewing again.  The lure of being surrounded by so many fabrics is so tempting.  It is such fun to see what people bring in after a weekend of sewing. Here’s what Anna JP said about her Liberty Summer Top.  “Following my success making a floaty tie-sleeve top in the teal Archive Lilac, I was keen to see if I could modify the pattern to make a simpler top.  I also really loved the coral version of the fabric and couldn’t resist the idea …

Summery Liberty Top

A rather lovely Summery Liberty Top has been made by Anna JP from the Alice Caroline office.  She has used a lovely print called Archive Lilac and had us all swooning when she arrived in the office today. Anna says “I used the Simplicity pattern 8601 and chose this particular fabric as it is summery and fresh without being too girly or nightdress-ish.  The pattern and fabric cutting took about two hours, partly as this is the first time I’ve used this pattern, and partly because I went for the bias cut version of the top. Sewing it took about …

Lovely Liberty Dresses

Anna and I have been really busy making lovely Liberty dresses.  We have lots of fun in the studio discussing which Liberty dress we are going to make next.  I always try to make at least one from each new Liberty collection.  I’ve made this one in Ebru from the new autumn winter 2017 collection.  We had a little trip to London a few weeks ago which is always a good excuse to show off a new Liberty dress. This is my go to dress.  I make this one a lot as it really suits my figure.  Every time I …

Beautiful Vintage Liberty Dress

I absolutely LOVE making my own clothes and this beautiful vintage Liberty dress was no exception!  It’s made from one of my all-time favourite Liberty fabrics – Carline D.  The vintage 1950’s look and feel of this dress is really lovely and can we worn for day or evening wear.  You can add a petticoat underneath to make it fuller and give it greater effect if that’s the look you would like. I have quite a selection of beautiful Liberty dresses in my wardrobe now and this is one of my favourites.  I have always loved this Liberty fabric and …

Pretty Liberty Top

Sarah from the studio has been sewing again – she’s made this pretty Liberty top.  We love Liberty tops here and it’s a common thing on a Monday to see a new top in the studio from at least one of us.  Whenever a new collection comes in we pour through the fabrics to see what would make a nice top. I think you’ll agree that this one is lovely – I’ve always loved Archive Lilac from the Alice In Wonderland spring / summer 2015 collection.  It took Sarah only a couple of hours to make which means you can …

Liberty Pony Dress for Annabel

Last weekend, I made this really quick Liberty Pony Dress for my daughter’s friend Annabel.  It was her ninth birthday (Happy Birthday Annabel!) and there’s no better present than a home made one. The fabric:   This is one of my absolute favourite Liberty designs and is always really popular with little girls.  It is Annabel’s favourite Liberty fabric too, so it was an easy choice to make and perfect for this Liberty pony dress.  It’s called Emolly Can Can and is an amazing Liberty print with ponies and carousels.  See if you can spot the different Liberty prints in …
