Gorgeous Liberty Jacket

I’ve made a jacket using one of the patterns that we are showcasing on the website.  I’ve used a gorgeous wool teal for the outside and then lined with Liberty Tana Lawn for a really decadent finish.  I really enjoyed making this and I love matching it with my favourite jeans to create both a smart and casual look. The pattern:  It’s by Sew to Grow and is the Bespoke Blazer Pattern.  I love the incredible simplicity of this pattern.  It’s very easy and uses the clever ‘burrito method’ which looks like a rolled up burrito but then turns into …

Liberty Dungarees – Yes Please!

Yay – spring has arrived in the UK and what better way to celebrate than to showcase some gorgeous Liberty Dungarees.  Laura from the office has made these using Primrose Path C from the new Shona Heath Capsule collection from Liberty.     I asked Laura about the project: “Shock and horror/awe from all, it isn’t a dress! I’m stepping out of my comfort zone in springy yellow dungarees and feeling quite pleased with the outcome. Are they dungarees if they have a back bodice thing instead of just an apron front flap bodice thing? Where do dungarees end and …

Liberty Detachable Collar

Laura has made this gorgeous Liberty Detachable Collar which is fully reversible.  It’s got a lovely vintage style about it and I love the fact that it is two garments in one.  Laura told me about the project below: “I have never had any need to do the whole ‘Christmas jumper’ thing. Certainly no need for jumpers in December in Australia. ‘Christmas sunburn’ was more the thing, an attractive red and regret-tinged momento of what my Christmas Day outfit of choice did not cover. Ouch. However I must say that even if they were a thing Down Under, I probably …

Christmas Liberty Pyjamas

Anna has been busy making Christmas Liberty Pyjamas for her children.  There’s nothing quite like the feel of Liberty Tana Lawn against your skin and a pair of Christmas pyjamas is a lovely thing to receive. I asked Anna about the project: “I love making things for my children at Christmas but as they get older they are getting more specific about what they love to receive.  This year I thought I would make pyjama bottoms and get a lovely snuggly top to go with them.  I used the pattern Simplicity 1504 which has got lots of different options for …

Liberty Bralet – Elm House

Lucy from the studio’s daughter has made this really sweet Liberty Bralet using the left over scraps from her amazing dress.  This is equally as brilliant a sewing job – the fabric works really well for this garment and Darcey’s pattern matching has been well thought through and executed really well!   The fabric is called Elm House in the B colourway.  It is inspired by William Morris’s ‘Honeysuckle’ design and this new version shows primulas and fritillaries painted in soft watercolour.  It’s from the Liberty ‘Private View’ collection from AW20. Lucy and Darcey told me about the make: Which …

Liberty Patchwork Dress

Laura has made this completely gorgeous patchwork dress using the new ‘Exclusive Butterfly Garden Collection‘.  Having been involved in the design process of this fabric collection, she couldn’t decide which fabric to make a dress out of so used lots of them.     These are Laura’s wise words about the sewing project:   “To anyone who has thought about sewing a patchwork outfit but then shied away from doing so, I would say to go for it! It is not at all as hard or tiresome as you may think and you will love it to bits, I am …
