Liberty Vintage Pinafore

Laura has made this gorgeous Liberty Vintage Pinafore using one of the recently launched quilting cottons.  She’s used Lawn A from the new Winterbourne collection.  It’s got a lovely vintage feel and it really showcases the use of a quilting cotton in a garment.    Here’s what Laura had to say about the project.”I have long thought that Liberty’s quilting cotton would also be suited to garment making (though the name of the fabric itself implies just the one end-use).  Specifically, garments that require a little more warmth or garments that benefit from having more structure, like this pinafore. The …

One of the lovely Lewes Sewing Bees has made this gorgeous Strawberry Thief Liberty Shawl.  The outer fabric is a lovely wool fabric and Anne has cleverly lined it with Strawberry Thief  J which makes the fabric really shine, both the wool outer and Liberty lining.  The lovely Louise from the studio is modelling the Shawl beautifully.  Anne Commin, the clever maker of this beautiful shawl, tells us about the project below.   “Three of the Lewes Sewing Bees have made these shawls so far and we all like their relaxed but subtly chic character. Liberty Nightdress

Dawn from the studio has made this gorgeous Liberty Nightdress in one of my exclusive Liberty white on white fabrics.  The finished nightdress is so delicate and has some lovely lace detail which compliments the style perfectly. I asked Dawn about making the nightdress.  “I made the version with short sleeves and on the whole it was easy but I did find the sleeves tricky to insert which meant readjusting to help with the fit.  I altered the pattern slightly – shortening by miles and used French seams for the whole sewing project.  I also added some cotton lace around …

Anna JP from the office made these lovely Liberty pyjamas for her two boys as a Christmas gift.  She has used fabrics from the new ‘From London With Love‘ collection. Anna talks about making her Liberty Pyjamas: “This Christmas I wanted to make more presents, and reckoned that kids’ PJs would be a fairly simple but well-appreciated project. Liberty Kimono Jacket

Lara from the studio has made this stunning Liberty Kimono Jacket using one of the Classic fabrics Decadent Blooms.  This is so beautiful and I love the way it drapes. I asked Lara abut the sewing project. Which pattern did you use? “I used a Simplicity pattern number 8968 and made view A.  I changed the pattern substantially though as I found it too full.  I removed the two front panels on the jacket which means it drapes better.  I put a facing on the collar and front opening as well as cuffs on the sleeves.  I felt that shortening …
