After months of planning, my brand new Quilt BOM is called ‘Jewel Palace Quilt’ and is a beautiful mixture of EPP alongside appliqué to create a gorgeous Liberty Tana Lawn quilt. Are you new to the concept of a Quilt BOM?
The Jewel Palace Quilt BOM is a sewing subscription where you sign up for 12 months. Every month you will receive a beautiful box containing instructions, Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics and pre-cut papers to make your English Paper Pieced (EPP) blocks per month, over 12 months, building into your own gorgeous Liberty quilt. Each block forms a distinctive pattern which will then be appliquéd onto an off-white quilting cotton background to make the finished quilt.
Fabrics are chosen from the 2019 / 2020 Liberty Classics and Alice Caroline Exclusives which are beautifully combined with Liberty Tana Lawn plain coloured fabrics. Each month the quilt block sizes will vary to give depth and texture to your quilt. Finished quilt size is 60″ x 72″ (152cm x 183cm)
My inspiration for this quilt was a visit to the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Andalusia in Spain when I was a student. The Palace is an extraordinary mix of where the Arab world meets Western influences. Arabic geometrical pattern and design are showcased beautifully at the Palace through the many intricately designed tiles on the walls. Each of these geometric patterns are creative and stunning, but are arrived at by a mathematical process. I love the way that art and science meet within these tiles and wanted to use that to design my new Quilt BOM. I’ve always thought that beauty comes out of science. I’ve chosen an off-white quilting cotton base for this quilt as it will really showcase the patterns and shapes in the quilt.

Radiant Stars Quilt BOM 2020
I am also excited to re-launch the Radiant Stars Quilt BOM for 2020. For those who missed out in 2019, or wish to quilt along with us again, I have decided to re-open subscriptions for this beautiful Liberty quilt. The Radiant Stars Quilt BOM for 2020 will be the same as in 2019 but with a different, yet still beautiful, selection of Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics.
Every month you will receive a beautiful box containing instructions, Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics and pre-cut papers to make two English Paper Pieced (EPP) blocks per month, over 15 months, building into your own gorgeous Liberty quilt. Each block forms a hexagon which then joins together with the other blocks (using white Liberty Tana Lawn) to make the finished quilt.
The finished size of each quilt block is 16” x 14” (40cm x 35cm). The finished quilt size is 75” x 78” (190cm x 198cm).
There will be no repeat fabrics between blocks in the whole quilt and you will receive approximately 133 different prints! Fabrics are all Liberty Tana Lawn and will include prints from our Alice Caroline Exclusive prints and Liberty Classics. As the months progress we will add in the loveliest fabrics from 2020’s unique collections.
