Liberty Christmas Table Mats

These gorgeous Liberty Christmas Table Mats are sure to make your festive table shine.  This is the last of Sarah W’s Christmas projects.

I asked Sarah about the project.  She said “This was my first attempt at free motion quilting and I’m thrilled with the result.  To make these table mats, I used a Christmas scrap pack and embellished with sequins and gold thread.  I also used one fat quarter of Capel Green to make the bias for the edging.  These were really fun to make and I can’t wait to use them on our Christmas table.”

This sewing project is from the book ‘Half Yard Christmas’ by Debbie Shore.  It seems that you can embellish your trees as much or as little as you prefer.  Sequins make the perfect bauble and the gold thread looks just like tinsel.

Free motion quilting is really fun and it opens up many possibilities for decoration once you learn the technique.  You can of course, quilt by hand, but if you choose to machine quilt, a free motion quilters foot is useful (but not essential).

The Liberty Christmas Table Mats will look perfect on Sarah’s Christmas table.
