Liberty Irma Top

The lovely Sarah from the studio has made this lovely Liberty Irma Top.  It’s made using Liberty linen

The pattern is New look K6163.  It’s a really simple pattern and an easy make.  This top has 3 pattern pieces and straight forward seams which are interfaced so it’s only a few hours of cutting and sewing.

The back detail of the Liberty Irma Top.  Sarah chose a pre made button from our stash at Alice Caroline.  You can use embroidery thread to finish this detail if you prefer which makes the task even quicker.

Linen is lovely to wear, especially Liberty linen.  It’s harder to sew than cotton and you must put stay stitching in place as well as zig zag the raw edges at the end.  This is to prevent the inevitable fray of the linen fabric.

Sarah said “I’ve really enjoyed making time to sew at what is normally a really busy time of year for me.  I find sewing so relaxing and I am really looking forward to wearing this top on my summer holiday and at the Festival of Quilts next week.  I think this should be the new Alice Caroline uniform!”

Happy summer holidays and, if you have time, happy sewing!
