Liberty Midi Dress

Kathy has made this gorgeous Liberty Midi dress out of the Liberty Tana Lawn® Champion’s Bouquet B fabric from the beautiful Liberty Champions collection. The pattern has various options for a frill, a longer length dress and long sleeves, giving multiple options for future sewing which is always great.

I asked Kathy why she decided to make this dress. “I saw it on last year’s Sewing Bee and I thought it was such a beautiful design that I just couldn’t resist! I decided on a floaty sleeve as I felt this would look more like a classic T-dress, which I absolutely love.  It’s a Simplicity pattern number 8875”

Why did you choose this fabric? “I absolutely love the colours, they are so vibrant and cheerful. The design of the dress has a vintage feel which is perfect for the fabric choice.  It’s available in two colour ways that you can see below.”

“I’m really pleased with my first invisible zip.  It wasn’t as tricky as I first thought it would be.  There are some great tutorials out there too to help you out if you need it.”

Are you pleased with the dress? “I am pleased with how it’s turned out.  I’ve learned an awful lot including sewing my first invisible zip!  Next time I try a dressmaking pattern I will make sure that I look at the measurements more closely.  The dress ended up being smaller and I’m not going to be able to wear it. Instead, I’m gifting it to my niece as a present and I’m really happy to be doing that.  Emma absolutely loves it and can’t wait to start wearing it this summer. “

Thank you for sharing your project with us Kathy.  I really hope Emma loves wearing the dress and enjoys the decadent feel of Tana Lawn® in a beautiful piece of clothing.
