Liberty Nightdress

Dawn from the studio has made this gorgeous Liberty Nightdress in one of my exclusive Liberty white on white fabrics.  The finished nightdress is so delicate and has some lovely lace detail which compliments the style perfectly.

I asked Dawn about making the nightdress.  “I made the version with short sleeves and on the whole it was easy but I did find the sleeves tricky to insert which meant readjusting to help with the fit.  I altered the pattern slightly – shortening by miles and used French seams for the whole sewing project.  I also added some cotton lace around the neckline and sleeves. I sourced the lace from Beckford Silk Mill just down the road from the studio.”

The Pattern: The Liberty Nightdress is made using a Butterick Easy Misses Petite Nightgown B6838.

The fabric:  “I loved the Mitsi White on White even before it arrived at the studio! Having already made a kimono dressing gown in Mitsi Hot Pink I knew I had to have a nightdress to go with it!  I’d give a little tip to anyone using the White on White.   It’s quite hard to tell the right and wrong sides of the fabric  – so you need to keep your wits about you whilst sewing. I had several unpicking sessions – but got there in the end!”

“I’m really pleased with the end result especially as I’m more of a quilter than a dressmaker! The finished Liberty nightdress does tie in with my Mitsi pink kimono really well.  It’s nice to be coordinated when making my morning cuppa.”
