Liberty Pyjamas

Cristina from the Lewes Sewing Bees has made these gorgeous Liberty Pyjamas for her daughter Sofia. She’s used a variety of prints from my new Liberty Exclusive collection, Halcyon Daze. The use of them in dressmaking patchwork is lovely, as is the piping with the bright yellow plain Buttercup L. Cristina tells us about her make below.

“I have always wanted a pair of funky pjs made of Liberty Tana Lawn®, mix and matching the wonderful florals and colours. Liberty fabrics pretty much always look lovely together. Having seen the photo of your exclusives on the Alice Caroline website and being offered the chance to work with such gorgeous exclusives I thought it was the perfect opportunity to make those PJs I’ve always wanted.”

“I chose Lisette pattern number B6296. The instructions were easy to follow but it seemed that the sizes are very ample. As I haven’t used the pattern before I decided to do the smallest size (6) and give the pjs to my daughter, who is 14 and still has plenty of growing to do. The fabrics were a delight to use and they are brought together very nicely by the yellow piping. I love the way the shorts have come up and maybe I should have been bolder and more adventurous with the top, possibly with the front facing in a contrasting colour- but this was way over my ability to calculate the amount of fabric I required! That must have been the biggest challenge actually. Deciding how much fabric of what colours I needed. The only draw back to the pjs is that the top is so oversized that you can’t see the shorts when you wear them as an ensemble. I did add some darts in the back so that it doesn’t look enormous on her but rather more tailored.”

“Sofia is looking forward to the summer so that she can wear them!”
