Liberty Up-cycled Aprons

Lara from the studio has made these Up-cycled Aprons as presents for her children.  These are so sweet and are a great use of old denim.

Lara says:  “Every year, my children get packed off to Auntie Kate’s to make a gingerbread house, whilst I go off and dash round the shops and attempt to get all my Christmas shopping done in one day!”

“The children have grown like weeds since lockdown and I realised they had outgrown their aprons. I had been rooting through my fabric hoard looking for something, when I came across a couple of pairs of old jeans and that is how my children’s denim aprons came about.  I thought that if I joined them together there would be enough fabric in the legs to make a small apron, but they needed jazzing up a bit.”

“I used Festive Sparkle B to lengthen the apron and appliquéd some stars on to make it look more fun!”

“For the second one, I used a scrap of Christmas quilting cotton that I had bought from Alice Caroline last Christmas (but we have a lovely range to choose from this year too!).  The kids will look supercute in these whilst decorating their gingerbread house – I can’t wait to give them to them.”

These are so cute Lara – such a simple up-cycled project but with a fabulous finish.
