New Liberty Sewing Patterns

Exciting news – we’ve got some New Liberty Sewing Patterns available.  Kathy from the office has made the Bertie Shift Dress using one of the fabrics from the SS20 collection.

Kathy has used the new ‘Dreams of Summer C’ fabric from the SS20 From London With Love collection.  The pattern design was originally painted in oils and showcases a magnificent display of high summer flowers.   The SS20 collection is inspired by love stories which began in London, from royalty to artists and poets.

The pattern uses the Bertie Shift Dress. It’s a new Liberty Fabrics dressmaking pattern which draws inspiration from their fashion archive.   The Bertie Shirt Dress creates a loose-fitting gathered-cuff style with voluminous sleeves and a stand-up collar option – a cool and comfortable silhouette for everyday wear.

I asked Kathy about the make:  “I found the dress relatively easy to make.  This is only my second garment that I’ve made and I’m really pleased with it.  I made it across two evenings but it you are an experienced dressmaker then you will find this pattern simple to use.  I made the dress one size bigger than I normally would but it was accurate to the sizing on the pattern.   I chose the fabric for the vibrant summer colours which drew me in.  I used a lightweight interfacing but I think if I made it again I wouldn’t interface it and have the collar hang loose.  The part that took me the longest to make were the sleeves.  It took a while for me to ease them into the main body of the dress.  I’m really pleased with the dress as its great for both daytime and evening.  I’ve got some cute shoe boots to dress it up a little more for the evening.”

There are lots of other new Liberty patterns to choose from.  Anna and I are going to make the Florence Palazzo Suit to wear at shows.

I hope that this inspires you to make something new.
