Alice’s Country Diary

The Alice’s Country Diary Quilt combines the wonderful technique of English Paper Piecing (EPP) with beautiful hand embroidery and appliqué.

Our Block of the Month (BOM) club makes sewing easy, simple and fun – each month we’ll send you a box with the fabric, embroidery threads and instructions to make your beautiful blocks which build to make your heirloom quilt towards the end of the year.

With easy to follow instructions to guide you, at the end of 12 months you will have made a beautiful double (queen) sized Liberty quilt.

So what’s in the boxes?

Each month you will receive all the fabrics, papers and embroidery threads needed to make your beautiful quilt blocks, plus fully illustrated instructions. For more details see our FAQs below.

Detailed instructions

We take great care to write detailed, easy to follow, instructions with clear illustrations and step by step ‘how to’ guides. We also include fabric keys, thread guides and top sewing tips as an extra bonus.

Just the right amount of fabric

With this club you can make a quilt using lots of Liberty fabrics which are hard to come by in just the right amount. Your finished quilt will include 64 different Liberty Tana Lawn® and 40 different DMC threads.

Self Paced

Sew this gorgeous quilt at your own pace. It’s easy to pick up and put down – allowing you to sew when time allows. Make the quilt at your own pace – you can fit this into a busy life by making blocks at a time to suit you.

Varied Quilt Blocks

There are 25 blocks in total with a border to complete the quilt in month 12. Learn new skills, or develop existing ones, we provide full instructions for embroidery stitches including satin, daisy chain, French knots and many more.

Hello, I'm Alice

I’ve always loved playing with fabrics, finding particular joy in combining colours. Finding a snippet of Liberty amongst my grandmother’s quilting stash of worn-out dresses and vintage fabrics was always a highlight and, from there, my passion for Liberty fabrics grew.

I’ve been running my business for over 10 years and love spending time designing sewing patterns and kits. Many of my kits are stocked in the iconic Liberty of London store which is always so exciting when I visit. One of my favourite times of the year is Quilt BOM design – I simply adore getting lost in both design and Liberty fabric choosing. I love the fact that these Quilt BOM boxes will be sent out across the globe – sharing that quilty Liberty love worldwide. Alice xoxo

What is included in my QBOM subscription?

You will receive all of the fabrics (Liberty Tana Lawn®, DMC embroidery threads and high quality white quilting cotton), full instructions and diagrams to make several blocks per month. Best of all, these will be enclosed in a beautiful quilt BOM box that you can use to store your work. Over the 12 month period, these blocks will build to create a fabulous Liberty fabric heirloom quilt.

Will I have any fabric left over?

The fabric amount included within your boxes each month is plenty to make your blocks, with a small amount left over. This will vary from month to month – make sure you keep any scraps to use for tiny scrappy projects.

Are your sewing subscriptions suitable for beginners?

Alice’s Country Diary Quilt is suitable for both beginner and intermediate sewing levels (although even if you are a super experienced sewer you will still love taking part in this subscription).

What size is the finished quilt?

Finished quilt size is 68” x 68” (172cm x 172cm).

What about backing and binding?

Backing and binding is available in a choice of fabric print options, cut to the size that you will need.

If I join, when will my box arrive and when will my payment be taken?

Payment by monthly subscription:
Payment will be taken on 24^th of every month starting January 2024.

Payment by quarterly subscription:

Payment will be taken on 24^th March, 24^th June, 24^th September and 24^th December starting March 2024.

For all quilts, shipping will commence 3-5 working days following your payment date. If you are signing up after January 24^th then you will be charged for the ‘catch up’ boxes, which will ship immediately.

Payment by Annual Subscription:

You may pay the full year’s subscription in full up-front, on the day when you sign up. Your 12 packs , the whole quilt will be shipped to you immediately. Please select Annual for this option.

Can I cancel part way through the year?

Should your circumstances change part way through the subscription meaning you wish to cancel, you are free to do so at any time by emailing [email protected]. (We would, of course, be sad to see you go)

International Standard: £6.95 per month
