Snuggle up with this pretty Pinwheel Quilt! It is the perfect size to be either a lap quilt for that perfect layer of extra warmth, or a cot quilt for the new baby in a loved one’s life. Not just for newborns, cot quilts carry many treasured memories and as the child grows the quilt becomes a beloved heirloom.
You will use basic patchwork techniques to make the quilt, perfect for an advancing beginner. The half square triangles (HSTs) for the pinwheel blocks are a breeze and you will be whipping them up in no time at all. Not to be intimidated, the mitred borders may appear difficult however are easily achieved following our instructions.All amazing skills to add to your quilting arsenal!
As pictured, this quilt looks great using one printed fabric and one plain fabric. You could certainly have fun and experiment with using two printed fabrics or two plains if you wish. As shown, using complimentary colours means the quilt fits in well with a tighter decor, so be sure to think about the colours of the room it will end up in. Or, use highly contrasting colours instead for a bolder look that is sure to be a conversation starter. Have fun!
This pattern is very well suited for Liberty Tana Lawn® or any other 54” (137cm) wide fabric to be used as the main, contrast and binding. Liberty Quilting Cotton, Liberty Tana Lawn® or any other minimum 44” (112cm) wide fabric would suit for the backing.
