Rainbow Butterfly Cushion Kit – Teal

This Rainbow Butterfly Cushion kit uses an array of Liberty Tana Lawn® prints combined with quality plain quilting cotton to create a pretty cushion to adorn your home.

This kit introduces a different technique of raw edge appliqué that is simple, yet very effective. Like a stained glass window, the jewel-like Liberty prints are framed beautifully within the solid outline of the butterfly. The raw edge appliqué technique may be completed by hand; for those who enjoy the serenity of slow stitching, or by machine for quicker results. This method of appliqué does require some concentration, but is easily mastered and quite addictive!
You can embellish your butterflies as much as you like, adding detail with embroidery stitches, beading or sequins for added sparkle.

THIS KIT INCLUDES

1 piece of white cotton fabric for the background
1 piece of coloured cotton fabric for the cut-out butterfly, backing and binding 10 pieces of Liberty Tana Lawn® fabric for butterfly appliqué

Fabric included within the kit are as per images 2 and 3 (teal colour way of this product)

YOU WILL NEED

Iron, pins, pencil, thread to match each fabric, heat erasable pen or coloured chalk pencil, embroidery thread and hand sewing needle (optional), sewing machine (it is handy to be able to drop the feed dog for free motion embroidery), ruler, cutting mat, scissors, or rotary cutter, scalpel/craft knife, or small sharp scissors.

Iron-on transfer adhesive (such as Bondaweb): minimum 113⁄4” x 35” (30cm x 89cm) Optional: free motion quilting foot, greaseproof paper.
