Quilt SOS Progress

Here’s our Quilt SOS Progress – how are you getting on with your Quilt SOS quilt projects?

For those of you who don’t know what our new project is – here’s some Quilt SOS Progress news!  We are joining up with the amazing charity SOS Children’s Villages to make quilts for Romanian orphans which have been rehoused in a village with a new ‘mother’ to take care of them.

Quilt SOS Progress

We thought that we would try and inspire you with our works in progress from the Alice Caroline Studio.  A few of us are making a Quilt SOS quilt and are loving the inspiration of making something for someone else – even if that person is someone you don’t know.

Quilt SOS Update – news from the office – Anna and I have been busy sewing with our daughters and these are the results so far:

I have been making a log cabin block quilt – I am really trying hard to make a block a day and my daughter is also making her own quilt blocks to add into the finished piece.  We have made quite a few so far – here’s one of my blocks.

Quilt SOS Update

Anna is making a rainbow strip quilt with her daughter – they really wanted to do the brightest and most cheerful Liberty colours they could find and are putting a really pretty bright purple backing onto the quilt.  The strips are almost finished and once these are done then the quilt will be bound.  The plan then is to have fun with butterflies – putting as many appliqué butterflies onto the quilt as possible letting her children choose the fabrics, help to cut out and sew the butterflies onto the quilt.

It’s not too late to get involved in the Quilt SOS project.  Here’s a bit of info on the project:

What could be better than to make quilts for people who are really in need of them?  We have so much in our lives that we forget that there are people in the world who have virtually nothing. So, if you love to sew and more importantly, if you love to quilt, then please sign up to make a quilt for my Quilt SOS project.  Let’s all make a quilt for people who desperately need them.
