These Strawberry Thief Clothes Have Stolen My Heart

These gorgeous Strawberry Thief Clothes were made by Cristina Emslie.  Cristina is one of  ‘The Lewes Sewing Bees’. This is a group of wonderful ladies from Lewes who regularly meet to sew.  I have recently been completely astounded by the quilts they have sent in for my Quilt SOS project and so I wanted to collaborate with them a little more.

I am really excited to show you a summer series of beautiful things aimed at inspiring your sewing.  These have been made by our wonderful customers from my new Exclusive Liberty fabrics.  I wanted to see what other sewers would make with the fabrics and where their creative minds would take them.

Strawberry Thief Clothes

Cristina made these beautiful Strawberry Thief Clothes for her youngest daughter.   Her eldest daughter has recently graduated from fashion and designed the outfit and pattern.  What a talented family!  This means that I sadly can’t offer you a pattern name or number, but I’m sure with a little searching, you could find something similar.

Cristina told me a bit about making the Strawberry Thief Clothes and about ‘The Bees’:

“They were relatively easy to make – especially as I had made a toile using an old sheet.  When it came to choosing fabrics however, it was difficult. The choice was just so lovely. I had made a quilt for my eldest daughter using Liberty fabrics with (another colour way of) Strawberry Thief on the back. By choosing Strawberry Thief for the outfit this links the two sisters as they would both have something made by me.  My youngest also has something designed by her eldest sister.

I have always loved sewing since I was a child. I didn’t have a sewing machine until I got engaged.  I had tried sewing simple things and made house furnishings and clothes for my daughters.  I always followed a pattern with instructions. Since then , I have been with our lovely group of Lewes Sewing Bees.   We got together as a group in Lewes and are people who love quilting.  We meet almost every week to create quilts or other sewing projects. It’s wonderful to see them, to chat, to create and support each other in other aspects of our lives! And eat cake!”

Strawberry Thief Clothes

Everyone at Alice Caroline has been admiring these beautiful clothes.  They work both as separates and together beautifully as well.  The trousers look really great with a plain top.

The top also looks great with a pair of denim shorts or leggings.
