Liberty Wide Leg Trousers

Anna’s made these super cute Liberty Wide Leg Trousers using Isadora from the new AW19 collection.  I am planning to make some of these myself as I love them so much.  They are perfect for the warmer summer months and if you wanted to extend the season, you can interline them to give them additional thickness and body. Liberty Wide Leg Trousers – the fabric: Isadora is a soft watercolour of the peacock feather, which is an integral part of Libert’s design heritage.  It’s also a strong emblem of the ‘Aesthetic Movement’ which is the inspiration for the AW19 collection. …

Boys Liberty Shirt

Anna JP from the office has made this lovely Boys Liberty Shirt for her son Isaac.  It is a Walter/ Gilbert shirt for a very special year 6 leaver.  The shirt is made using fabrics from the new AW19 Aesthetic Renaissance collection. Anna talks about the make here: “As I write this (on July 19th) it is my younger son Isaac’s last week at his lovely local primary school, where both my sons have done a lot of their growing up over the past nine years. Among the many milestone-marking events going on this week, Isaac was quite excited about …

Liberty Dress for Autumn Winter 2019

I’ve made a Liberty Dress using ‘Lake Octavia’ from the new AW19 Liberty collection.  It uses the pattern by Made by Rae and is the ‘Ruby Dress’ which can be found here.  It’s a really simple project for someone who is just starting out on their dressmaking journey.  I’ve really enjoyed making this dress and am looking forward to making this in all sorts of fabric combos. It took a while to make the bias binding to edge the armholes and neckline but it looks great next to the contrast fabric. The pattern: This is a lovely dress with a …

Beautiful Strawberry Thief Dress

Sarah from the studio has made this beautiful Strawberry Thief Dress from one of the new 40th Classics fabrics.  She has made it for her daughter Annie who is a huge fan of the Strawberry Thief design.  Annie has excellent taste.   The fabric chosen is Strawberry Thief A from the new celebratory classics collection.  The pattern is New Look 6444 using view D.  It’s the same pattern as Gwen’s jumpsuit from last week.  The top half of the design is the same on both views with a different bottom half.  It creates a very different look for two sisters using the …

Gorgeous Liberty Quilt As You Go Quilt

Anna JP has made this Gorgeous Liberty Quilt using a combination of the two latest Liberty fabric collections.  It has beautiful fabrics from both the Classics 40th anniversary collection and the SS19 seasonal collection. The Quilt as you go technique is really simple.  It’s a great way of getting a quilt result in quilting.  The method means that you have a backing piece of fabric (right side down), place your wadding on top of that and then quilt your panels onto the front.  In this case it is strips of whole width of fabric.    Here are some of Anna’s …

English Eccentrics SS19 Liberty Collection

Also brand new and out today is the English Eccentrics SS19 Liberty Collection.  It’s a vibrant and diverse collection for Spring Summer 2019.  The collection is inspired by seven English eccentric characters.  This spans several decades and covers a wide diversity of genres.  Their wide-reaching travels inspire their work and have enriched British culture and history.  Historical figures such as King George IV who built the exotic and fantastical Brighton Pavilion (an Indian inspired seaside retreat filled with Chinoiserie and oriental opulence), Roald Dahl, Virginia Woolfe, the botanist Marianne North and John Lenon. I’ve put the fabric into some gorgeous fat …

Liberty Quilting Cotton – Orchard Garden Collection

The new ‘Orchard Cottage Collection’ of Liberty Quilting Cotton is now out.  The collection looks so lovely stacked up in bolts and really shines as a whole collection.  The collection is inspired by the stately gardens of grand English houses. New Fabric Collection by Liberty – AW18

I am dreaming of A Palace Garden with this New Fabric Collection by Liberty for the autumn / winter 2018.  The collection is now available. This collection has been inspired by Eltham Palace in London.   The mix of Art Deco glamour and traditional English style creates a collection filled with rhythm, colour and surprise.  We have been playing around with inspiring fat quarter bundles in the Alice Caroline studio. Eltham Palace is a former royal residence in South East London used by Tudor kings and queens dating back to the 14th century. In 1933 the palace was revived by new owners, …

Liberty Cottage Garden Collection

I have recently received the latest Liberty Cottage Garden collection.  These quilting cottons have been designed especially people who love to quilt.  I am really delighted to showcase ‘The Cottage Garden’ collection.   Inspired by the beautiful villages of Buckinghamshire where Arthur Liberty (Liberty’s founder) escaped from his London city life. English thatched cottage gardens burst with colourful floral displays.  The Liberty design studio has taken inspiration from archive prints and redrawn beautiful flowers such as forget me nots, bluebells and anemones.   The colour palettes include warm dusty pinks, coral tones mixed with lavender, denim and cornflower blues. Liberty have commissioned some quilt …
