Liberty Devon Petals Dress

Laura has been super busy again and has made this gorgeous Liberty Devon Petals Dress.  The fabric is from the new Liberty Botanicals collection and she’s used both colour ways to accentuate the lovely ruffles and ties on the dress. Laura tells us about the sewing project here: “Liberty’s new Botanicals collection is full of luscious floral prints inspired by the British countryside.  The fabric I have used is called Devon Petals and you will find both the navy version C and the cream version A on the Alice Caroline website.  I have used both colour ways in this prairie-style …

Claire from the studio has made this super sweet Liberty Wiltshire Blouse using one of the new Alice Caroline Exclusive fabrics.  It’s the first time I’ve seen a garment made up in one of my new exclusives so that is really exciting.  I love this top – such a delicate look for the summer months. I asked Claire about the project. What do you love about this fabric from the Betsy Butterfly Garden collection? “I love the Wiltshire Blossom – the colours are so delicate.  The whole collection is gorgeous, but for me, the Wiltshire Blossom was an outright winner” …

Lara from the studio has made this gorgeous Liberty AW20 Dress using ‘Star Anise A’ from the new AW20 collection.  Louise (also from the studio) is modelling the dress here.   I asked Lara about the sewing project.   What fabric did you use and why? “The main body of the dress uses ‘Star Anise A’ which is a hand painted design with ditsy flowers.  My contrast fabric for the sleeve and pocket edges, as well as for the neck binding and lower band is a grey dotty Makower fabric from Hobbycraft.  I really liked the ditsy fabric and the sunny …

Liberty Cat Bag

Julie from the studio has made this cute Liberty Cat Bag for her daughter’s cat Coco.  My cat Twig is modelling it here! Julie has used a fabulous Tana Lawn print called Willoughby Mews C but there are two other lovely colour ways of this print too – a vintage pale yellow and blue.  The lining uses Liberty Tana Lawn Stone T plain fabric which I love. Willoughby Mews is from the “From London With Love’ collection and is based on a favourite cat that has raided it’s owners accessories cupboard.   It’s such a fun print. Julie said ” …

Liberty Wide Leg Trousers

Anna’s made these super cute Liberty Wide Leg Trousers using Isadora from the new AW19 collection.  I am planning to make some of these myself as I love them so much.  They are perfect for the warmer summer months and if you wanted to extend the season, you can interline them to give them additional thickness and body. Liberty Wide Leg Trousers – the fabric: Isadora is a soft watercolour of the peacock feather, which is an integral part of Libert’s design heritage.  It’s also a strong emblem of the ‘Aesthetic Movement’ which is the inspiration for the AW19 collection. …

Liberty Dress for Autumn Winter 2019

I’ve made a Liberty Dress using ‘Lake Octavia’ from the new AW19 Liberty collection.  It uses the pattern by Made by Rae and is the ‘Ruby Dress’ which can be found here.  It’s a really simple project for someone who is just starting out on their dressmaking journey.  I’ve really enjoyed making this dress and am looking forward to making this in all sorts of fabric combos. It took a while to make the bias binding to edge the armholes and neckline but it looks great next to the contrast fabric. The pattern: This is a lovely dress with a …
