Komebukuro Liberty Rice Bags

Anne and Gill from the Lewes Sewing Bees have made some mini Komebukuro Liberty Rice Bags from the leftover exclusive fabrics.  These are such sweet little bags with so many uses I can think of.  If you remember, a few weeks ago I shared Gill’s gorgeous ‘Anna’s Garden’ jacket and Anne’s beautiful Pear Table Runner and fabulous hold all bag.  They have very cleverly used the offcuts from these projects to make these sweet little bags.       I asked them about the bags:   Anne says “I love Susan Briscoe’s book Japanese Quilt Inspirations and in it I …

Wiltshire Blueberry Skirt

Sarah from the studio has made this super pretty Wiltshire Blueberry Skirt using one of the exclusives from my recent ‘Butterfly Garden‘ collection.   I love seeing what people make using the fabrics we’ve designed.  The skirt that Sarah has made is simply lovely.  It uses the delicate tones of the Wiltshire Blueberry fabric in a floaty summer skirt.  Although it’s autumn here now, combined with some warmer boots and a lovely jumper this could be worn across the seasons so it’s a great project. I asked Sarah about the project: What inspired your fabric choice for this lovely skirt? …

Felicite Teal Top

Lucy from the studio has made this gorgeous Felicite Teal Top for her daughter Darcey using my exclusive fabric from the latest collection.  It’s so lovely to see this fabric being used in a garment. Summer seems like a far away time now but I’m planning on sewing my way through the latest UK lockdown and hopefully having lots of lovely things to wear when we are allowed out again.     I asked Lucy about making the top. What pattern did you use?   “I didn’t use a commercial pattern for this top as the shape is fairly simple.  Darcey …

Liberty Bralet – Elm House

Lucy from the studio’s daughter has made this really sweet Liberty Bralet using the left over scraps from her amazing dress.  This is equally as brilliant a sewing job – the fabric works really well for this garment and Darcey’s pattern matching has been well thought through and executed really well!   The fabric is called Elm House in the B colourway.  It is inspired by William Morris’s ‘Honeysuckle’ design and this new version shows primulas and fritillaries painted in soft watercolour.  It’s from the Liberty ‘Private View’ collection from AW20. Lucy and Darcey told me about the make: Which …

Mustard & Grey Liberty Quilt

One of our lovely customers June Clark has made this beautiful Mustard & Grey Liberty Quilt.  She’s given us permission to show you some of her quilting which is super exciting.  It’s all hand pieced and there are 1,600 two inch squares.  It’s so beautiful and has a vintage Liberty fabric hidden inside the piecing too.  I love the colours June has chosen – they go perfectly together.   June told us a little bit about her quilt: “I first made a log cabin quilt from fabric I had –  that took so little time that I started on this …

Quilted Liberty Jacket

Gill Nicholls from the Lewes Sewing Bees has made this stunning Quilted Liberty Jacket.  She’s used Anna’s Garden Teal from my exclusive ‘Butterfly Garden’ collection and has lined it with Plain Light Pink Tana Lawn.  I thoroughly enjoyed modelling this beautiful jacket and quite fancy making one myself!  I asked Gill about the project.     Why did you choose the fabric? “I chose Anna’s garden fabric because it was a stunning large print with gorgeous colours. A quilted jacket seemed a good choice although the fabric would look amazing as many different garments.”     Which pattern did you …

Liberty Wiltshire Blouse

Cristina Emslie from the Lewes Sewing Bees has made this beautiful Liberty Wiltshire Blouse using one of our Alice Caroline Exclusive colourways.  It’s called Wiltshire Blueberry and looks really pretty in this top.  I asked Cristine about the make.     Why did you choose the fabric? “When I first saw the exclusives, the one that caught my attention was the one Gill used for her jacket (Anna’s Garden Teal – project coming up next week) and I wanted to make a pair of pjs with it. I was a bit slow at showing my preference and when we were …

Beautiful Quilts

Last week, one of our amazing customers, Bridget Thorn brought in these beautiful quilts for our Quilt SOS project.  Bridget has been a wonderful supporter of our Quilt SOS project so I thought it would be great to find out about her quilting and sewing history.     How did you start out sewing and how long have you been a quilter for?   “My mother always made our clothes and as I was the youngest of three girls, she usually ran out of time to finish mine.  So, if I wanted something new, it was better that I learnt …
