Liberty Kimono Jacket

Lara from the studio has made this stunning Liberty Kimono Jacket using one of the Classic fabrics Decadent Blooms.  This is so beautiful and I love the way it drapes. I asked Lara abut the sewing project. Which pattern did you use? “I used a Simplicity pattern number 8968 and made view A.  I changed the pattern substantially though as I found it too full.  I removed the two front panels on the jacket which means it drapes better.  I put a facing on the collar and front opening as well as cuffs on the sleeves.  I felt that shortening …

Beautiful Wiltshire Liberty Dress

Gill Nicholls from the ‘Lewes Sewing Bees’ has made this beautiful Wiltshire Liberty Dress.  It uses the ‘Mustard & Grey Wiltshire’ from my new exclusive collection.  It’s a lovely dress which can be worn for summer or between the seasons.   A big thank you to the lovely Louise from the Alice Caroline studio who is modelling the Wiltshire dress. I asked Gill about the make: Which pattern and fabric did you use and why? “I used the Merchant and Mills Ellis and Hattie pattern. I used the Ellis pattern with the higher waist and did the Hattie inset pockets. …

Katherine from the office wanted to give her mum a beautiful Liberty Top for her birthday.  She doesn’t sew herself so asked Laura to make it for her.  The end result is simply stunning.  A fantastic fabric and pattern choice from Katherine and beautiful sewing by Laura. Katherine is modelling the beautiful top. Katherine told me a little about why she chose the fabric and pattern. What pattern did you use and why? “I’ve always wanted to give my mother something beautiful to wear in Liberty, having worked at Alice Caroline for a long time. I am not a dressmaker; …

Beautiful Liberty Dress

Laura has made another Beautiful Liberty Dress using one of the stunning fabrics from the new classics range. She’s made it using ‘Libby’ from the new Liberty Classics which is a small floral depicting daisies in fun colours. The pattern is one of Laura’s own creations which makes her super talented.     I asked Laura about her choice of fabric and the ‘make’:   “The Libby print from the 2019/20 Liberty Classics collection is a small, ditzy floral with vintage vibes and is therefore perfection in physical fabric form. I fell in love instantly with this sweet purple and …

Liberty Sewing Organiser

The Liberty Sewing Organiser shown here today was made by Anne Commin from the Lewes Sewing Bees.  It’s always a bit of a surprise when we receive a project from one of the ‘Bees’.  This one was such fun to open as each layer revealed another joyful hand sewn item.    The sewing box is made using a food steamer and has been beautifully refurbished to include a stunning EPP (English Paper Piecing) lid.  This uses the Mitsi white on white as a background fabric with the exclusive mustard and greys collection fabrics as the sweet hexagons for decoration. When …

Liberty Top With A Cute Collar

Anna JP from the office has made this really cute Liberty Top With A Cute Collar.  It’s made using one of our sale fabrics ‘Poppy’s Patchwork‘.   I asked Anna about the project. “Whilst amusing myself tidying up the long rolls in the studio one afternoon and wondering if any of the prints would work for a lightweight window screen, I felt a pull towards this small geometric print with the subtle yet clear summery colours. I decided to make a sleeveless top (not a window screen – but maybe that’ll come later), so went about finding a suitable pattern. …

Charity Liberty Quilts Made by The Dulwich Quilters

When I took a phone call from Jenny Strong earlier on this year asking if her quilting group ‘The Dulwich Quilters’ could make Charity Liberty Quilts for the Alice Caroline Quilt SOS project, I was delighted.  Jenny mentioned that one of the quilters in her group had sadly passed away last year and left a large Liberty fabric stash for them to use for charitable causes.  Sheila Conway’s fabric stash has been put to a fantastic use in these 7 stunning quilts which will be personally hand delivered to the children in Latvia later on this year. A couple of …
