Christmas Log Cabin Cushion

Anna has made this Christmas Log Cabin Cushion using strips of pink and red Liberty fabric.  It’s graded from light in the centre to dark colours around the outside of the cushion.  Each ring of the log cabin uses one fabric which gives a lovely finish to the cushion.  Anna has written up a tutorial for you should you wish to give this easy sewing technique a go. Log Cabin tutorial – makes a 20″ square cushion cover: “I simply started with a 2.5” square of fabric in the centre and chose fabrics that graded from light to dark as …

Quilt SOS – The Journey to Hestia

Quilt SOS – The Journey to Hestia.  Last week, we finally managed to personally deliver the Quilt SOS quilts to Hestia in Croydon.  The wonderful Alice Caroline customers and staff have been making beautiful quilts for us to donate to the charity Hestia.  Hestia are based in and around London and run refuges to help women and children.  These women and children have been affected by domestic violence and are now re-building their lives with the support of the charity.  We wanted to be able to give them a special gift this Christmas. We made the journey to Croydon last …

Luna Lapin’s Liberty Fox

This is the second of Lara’s gorgeous projects – this is Luna Lapin’s Liberty Fox.  I simply love this adorable teddy.  Lara has taken the best from the pattern but has added her own touches for clothing and face design. I asked her about the project. “I bought the book ‘Luna Lapin’s Friends’ on a shopping trip to Evesham Vale.  There’s a cute little craft shop there that I love.  It caught my eye with its cute forest creatures.  I made this ‘Rafferty Fox’ for a new baby in our family.  I thought Rafferty was a fox like name although …

Rosie Rabbit Liberty Luna Lapin

Lara from the studio has made this gorgeous Rosie Rabbit Liberty Luna Lapin.  It’s from the book Luna Lapin’s Friends by Sarah Peel and the results are really beautiful.  In actual fact, she’s made 3 of the teddies from the book but we thought we would share them over time as they are so lovely. I asked Lara about the make: “The rabbit is based on Luna Lapin but I did make quite a few alterations.  I wanted to make a Little Red Riding Rabbit for my daughter Sophia and used the Wiltshire S fabric to make her dress.  I …

Liberty Christmas Tree Garland

Sarah from the studio loves Christmas.  She’s made this gorgeous Liberty Christmas Tree Garland as one of her projects this year.  Sarah always comes up with lovely Christmas ideas and I love sharing these with you for some seasonal inspiration. Sarah told me about the project: “I love Christmas, special times with family and friends, the food, decorations and advent, the time of preparation, reminding me why I’m celebrating and helping me focus on what Christmas is really all about.”     “The Christmas tree bunting was even easier than the angels previously shown on the blog. I printed a Christmas …

Liberty Christmas Angels

Sarah from the studio has made these really sweet Liberty Christmas Angels.  She’s used seasonal Liberty quilting cotton fabrics which showcase the angles cloaks beautifully.   Sarah told me about the project: “To make the angels, I didn’t follow a pattern, I discovered them online through Pinterest and followed a link. They were very simple to make and involved both sewing and sticking! I chose quilting fabrics for these as it gave them a firmer finish than Tana. I picked traditional colours, typical of my taste, Wiltshire Shadow Forest and Wiltshire Shadow Ruby for the cloaks and lined them with …

Moravian Star Liberty Decoration

Kathy from the studio has made this lovely Moravian Liberty Star Decoration.  It uses the technique of EPP (English Paper Piecing) which is really fun and a little bit addictive.   I asked Kathy about the project: What inspired you to make this gorgeous Christmas decoration? “I saw it on Pinterest, instantly liked it and fancied having a go at making something new.  I’ve become obsessed with patchwork and EPP and thought this would be a quick project.  I was wrong about that!  It wasn’t quick to make but I really enjoy the process of making it.” What pattern did …

Komebukuro Liberty Rice Bags

Anne and Gill from the Lewes Sewing Bees have made some mini Komebukuro Liberty Rice Bags from the leftover exclusive fabrics.  These are such sweet little bags with so many uses I can think of.  If you remember, a few weeks ago I shared Gill’s gorgeous ‘Anna’s Garden’ jacket and Anne’s beautiful Pear Table Runner and fabulous hold all bag.  They have very cleverly used the offcuts from these projects to make these sweet little bags.       I asked them about the bags:   Anne says “I love Susan Briscoe’s book Japanese Quilt Inspirations and in it I …

Wiltshire Blueberry Skirt

Sarah from the studio has made this super pretty Wiltshire Blueberry Skirt using one of the exclusives from my recent ‘Butterfly Garden‘ collection.   I love seeing what people make using the fabrics we’ve designed.  The skirt that Sarah has made is simply lovely.  It uses the delicate tones of the Wiltshire Blueberry fabric in a floaty summer skirt.  Although it’s autumn here now, combined with some warmer boots and a lovely jumper this could be worn across the seasons so it’s a great project. I asked Sarah about the project: What inspired your fabric choice for this lovely skirt? …

Felicite Teal Top

Lucy from the studio has made this gorgeous Felicite Teal Top for her daughter Darcey using my exclusive fabric from the latest collection.  It’s so lovely to see this fabric being used in a garment. Summer seems like a far away time now but I’m planning on sewing my way through the latest UK lockdown and hopefully having lots of lovely things to wear when we are allowed out again.     I asked Lucy about making the top. What pattern did you use?   “I didn’t use a commercial pattern for this top as the shape is fairly simple.  Darcey …
