Vintage Style Liberty Peg Bag

Lara has made this gorgeous Vintage Style Liberty Peg Bag using the left over organic fabrics from the Easter apron.  The new Liberty organic fabrics are perfect for this vintage style type of project.  Their soft colours have a lovely vintage feel.

I asked Lara about the project:

“This project was an off shoot from the pinafore I made for Easter Sunday.  I used the scraps from the fat quarters for the appliquéd birds and flowers.  I love using absolutely every scrap of fabric up.  I’m really into zero waste and this, coupled with the fact that Liberty fabric is so precious, led me to this design.”

Organic Liberty fabrics used – Betsy A, Betsy B, Mamie B and Millie C

“I used the technique of raw edge appliqué for the birds and flowers.  I used Bondaweb on the back of the appliquéd shapes which really helps them to stay down whilst sewing which is a lot easier.  These are all machine appliquéd with added sewing detail added to the birds and flowers.”

“The inspiration behind the birds was from some wallpaper I bought for Sofia’s bedroom.  I used the illustration on the wallpaper to form the shapes in this peg bag.  The peg bag is for me – I absolutely love it.  I may do a similar design on a T-shirt as my next project.”
